In the Footsteps of the Romantic Poets
'In the Footsteps of the Romantic Poets’ helped pupils of all ages understand and connect with their local landscape and heritage through making, playing and exploring outside.
The project took inspiration from the Romantic Poets, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William and Dorothy Wordsworth, who lived and wrote in Somerset’s Quantock Hills.
Artists and cultural partners collaborated with schools, over a period of 4 years, to build skills and understanding across subjects through an immersive learning experience.
The project was produced by SPAEDA, on behalf of the Quantock Hills National Landscape and the Quantock Landscape Partnership Scheme with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Bolder and Braver
The Schools Wellbeing and Arts Project, commissioned by Somerset County Council’s Public Health Team, uses the Creative Arts to help children and young people recover from the impact of the pandemic. Spaeda partnered with artists and schools across Somerset to help children and young people navigate their journey to recovery.
Using art and creativity as a therapeutic tool, Bolder and Braver seeks to empower young learners with additional needs, giving them opportunities to reflect as well as new skills to raise their aspirations and better equip them for living their best adult life.
Artsmark Spark
Spaeda supported Somerset schools to further develop arts and cultural learning in their settings via the Artsmark SPARK scheme, funded by Real Ideas and Sound Foundation Somerset.
The scheme was a real success, with the 44 schools taking part receiving almost £60k of funding combined!

The Creative Education Challenge
SPAEDA was honoured to be selected by Arts Council England from over 500 applicants to bring a unique opportunity to Somerset through The Creative Education Challenge. Thanks to the Catalyst Evolve Programme, SPAEDA worked in partnership with school communities across Somerset to engage parents, governors, and local businesses in fundraising efforts aimed at expanding the impact of visual, performing, and media arts for children and young people in the region.
Thanks to the support of the Catalyst Programme, a time-limited match fund of £50,000 was available, matching £1 for £1 any funds raised.
