I qualified as a Teacher of Art in 2004, spending the first five years in a mainstream secondary setting and the majority, 14 years, in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). From 2015 I held a leadership role within a PRU in Taunton, leading initially on provision and delivery for KS4 and then KS3. Throughout my teaching career I remained committed to teaching Art and nurturing children and young peoples' creativity. During this time I created a project I named HeARTspace, taking best practice of our supportive arts curriculum into our mainstream partner settings. In 2023 I joined the SPAEDA team, developing this project as a one to one and small group work intervention. I am delighted to be stepping into the role of Director of SPAEDA and am excited to be a part of SPAEDA's growth into the future.
